QuickCal - The natural language calendar for iOS App Reviews

Much Much better than the default calendar

This is a the best Calendar replacement I have seen, and ever getting better. Quick entry of new appointments, huge number of formulations possible, very intelligent interpretation of what you type. Havent used Apples crazy dials for setting up an appointment since. The latest addition of a month view including an availability bar is yet another feature that puts this way past Apples offering. The recently added ability to see all past and future appointments makes this a complete calendar replacement. Its definitely moving to my front page. Thanks for the continued development! A few remaining comments: - For list view, maybe add an option to dim dates with no appointments. Right now it shows a bar for every single day, which looks odd for periods where there are no appointments. - I would like the time bar to show colors according to Outlook appointment label, but maybe that data isnt present on the iPhone. If it IS available, please add option appointment coloring by calendar / by label.

Saves me from errors!

Love this app. So much faster to enter an appointment, including reminders. Thank you!

Calendar problems

This app worked great last week. Now, after updating to ios 5, quickcal doesnt handle my calendars correctly anymore. It shows duplicates of most all of my calendars, and wont show my email calendar so I can sync up with google calendar. Frustrating, I hope they fix this so that I can again use this app.

Great idea. Great app.

Works great. Much better than Apples Calendar app in adding new events.

Was great, now freezes

This has been my go-to calendar app since I first installed it. Love it like crazy. Suddenly, in past week or so, it freezes all the time. Desktop version still works great (better than Fantastical in my opinion) but this mobile version needs to get fixed fast.

Used to Work great - now freezes!

Had to uninstall (over a month) until it is fixed.

Used to work but stopped working after ios5 update

Used to work great but all of a sudden it stopped working after ios5 update. You can enter all the details of a vent but when you press submit it freezes and the program crashes. Dont buy until updated version comes out to fix this key error

Love, love, love this app! But...

If youre going to be a paid app, you have to update your software and fix these bug issues. I have both the desktop and the mobile version of this app, but the mobile one is the one I really need to have working.

Freezes

This app used to work, and was my favorite calendar app. Now it freezes whenever I try to add an event.

Once the best, now the worst

This used to be an indispensable part of my workflow, but I cant use this version anymore because it freezes whenever I try to add an event. Ill update my rating back to 5 stars once its fixed. But after 2+ months without a fix, I cant recommend QuickCal in its current state

Needs an iPad version

I love using this on my iPhone but we really need an iPad version that works in landscape mode. I want to be able to enter in my appointments and it would be easier then entering them all on the iPhone

Best calendar app Ive found so far

Ive taken at least a dozen calendar apps for a test drive. Reasons QuickCal has the other beat: - Clearer and cleaner UI, for example the which-calendar color indicators are thin, bright vertical strips instead of small but space-hogging buttons, making it much easier to tell at a glance which events belong to which calendar - Dates without items still appear in the list view - Times take up minimal space while still be very clear - Fonts are lighter but much easier to read, and show much more when event titles are long - Swipe to delete events - Repeating event indicator - And of course the natural-language event creation Things QuickCal still needs to work on: - Splash screen on opening the app WAY too often, way too slow to open when you do get the splash screen - Too few option for Default Reminder (I like a 2-hour reminder, and this is the only calendar app that doesnt have it as a default) Things I would love to see: - Being able to customize reminders instead of being forced to use a handful of pre-determined defaults (I need 2 weeks and 2 days, for example) - Being able to customize repeat frequency (I often need every 6 months, every 3 months, and every 2 months) Yes, those two things would make QuickCal slightly less quick, but if they were added, Id never need to touch another Calendar app again.

Good, solid, does what it says.

I write "meet w/ client tues @ 2 til 4 @ client office" and Poof! its done. There have been a very few cases where the QuickCal algorithm failed to generate the proper duration for an event, but it may be that I was phrasing it oddly.

Works perfectly!

Im not sure what others are complaining about! I risked the dollar and the app is working fine for me! A great addition to my phone.

Great!

This app is great! Natural language-based event creation, just like its mac version. Fast and easy, well worth $0.99!

Does not work on iOS 6

Crashing during startup. Fail.

Will not open

Crashes before opening. Please fix!!

Scott

Newest release is not opening on both iPhone and iPad. Goes to the opening screen with the icon, but doesnt open.

v.1.6 doesnt work

With the version 1.6 upgrade, the app wont open on my iphone 4 (iOS5.1.1). It sits at the splash screen and stays there. Prior to this update, this was a 3.5 star app. I love the natural language entry - this is essentially the only reason to use this app, and was why it made the front screen of my iphone for a long time. Other than that, the minimalist design is functional if not pretty. The default agenda view for QuickCal is fine, but in other calendar apps I prefer looking at my calendar in month view. The month view in QuickCal is ugly, so I stay away from it. There are other natural language calendar entry options now and this one just doesnt cut it anymore.

Great app

This app makes it so natural to add things to your calendar and has replaced the default calendar app for me. Looks and works great on the new iPhone 5!
